I’ve attached a three-row table in the form of a signature block.

Can someone tell me why the middle row has extra vertical space at the top? Just looking at the table, you’d think that all cells in that row have a Vertical Alignment of “Bottom” (since the End of Table Cell marks are at the bottom of each cell), but all cells in the row have a “Top” Vertical Alignment. I’ve checked every other place in the Table Properties dialog boxes that I can think of and I don’t see what’s causing the extra space. Plus there’s nothing in the Paragraph dialog box that tells it to add extra space before the paragraph.

Click in the last cell of the middle row.
      Select Table | Table Properties…
      Activate the Cell tab.
      Click Options…
Set theTop cell margin to 0 or tick the check box Same as table.

The right hand cell of the middle row has a 1.14cm top margin. You can set this back to 0 in Table > Properties > Cell > Options

      Hans and Stuart,

Sorry for the late reply–somehow I didn’t get an email notification of your responses.

Thanks for finding the problem. I guess I haven’t ever noticed an Options button for the Cell tab. I usually associate that with the Table tab. But I’m amazed I didn’t stumble across it with all the close examination I gave that signature block.

      Thanks for your help.
