• Table cell colour (2002 SP3)

In the table in the attached document, some of the cells are green and some are yellow.

Is there any way to bring up a Borders and Shading dialog box that shows the colour that the current cell is set to? I always see the setting as white.

You have’nt included the attachment. However, in Word2003 (and I assume in XP) if you select the cell (your cursor turns into a solid black arrow and the cell is highlighted), the Borders & Shading will bring up the appropriate colour.

Works that way in Word 2000, too. smile

        Correct on both counts:

        1. I forgot to include the attachment
        2. The selection of cells

I was expecting this to work if I just had my cursor in the cell.

        Many thanks for you help

I notice that the colour is identified on the Tables and Borders toolbar, even if you just click in the cell. When you click on the Shading dropdown, it shows the current cell colour as selected!

But if you choose a cell with no fill colour, it shows the last used fll colour as selected.

Correct, a no shaded cell has no fill, so the toolbar does not update! This is normal with word. It does not refresh the toolbar even if you close down the app. Why are you querying this?

Just trying to understand how it all works. Seems strange that the toolbar should work with just the cursor in a shaded cell, whilst the properties dialog requires the cell to be selected.

In Word 2002 SP3, the fill color button doesn’t update to reflect the current cell. I think that’s probably good, because if you are using the toolbar to quickly apply a new color to various cells, it would be very irritating to have it change every time you entered a new cell.
