    I have tried everything I could find on how to do away with the system tray clock and date — except of course what would work.

    It was gone at one point, but some Windows update decided it should bring it back.

    Is there a permanent way to eliminate the clock and date in the tray?

      I could not find the setting following your method. I’m not sure if this version specific, but for Win10, if you right click on the taskbar, select Taskbar Settings> Select “Turn System Icons On or Off”> the first entry is Clock, and this will turn off the systray clock.

      ETA: I just noticed this is Win11, my bad.

      I suppose I am thinking that, 1) installing the betas for W-11, and 2) that I am not the only person with this issue, and 3) that time and updates can certainly change circumstances, that there may have been or be an option that has materialized of which I am unaware.

      Sorry for the apparent misconceptions.

      A ‘bump” to the original February thread would have been good…especially since there were some replies there that no one would have known about in this thread…until @n0ads pointed it out.

      @Chuck,

      When I go to the Settings page @PKCano mentioned and set “Show date and time…” to off the date and time disappear immediately. What happens when you do this?

      @Joe,

      Nothing.

      Joe, it’s even stranger than that:  The tray date/time sometimes disappears, like it did a couple hours ago, and now the darn clock is back!

      And, for the record, when I stopped being in the Insider program couple days back, I restored a backup of my Windows 11 untouched by “beta.”  And the issue was/is still there.

      Why couldn’t it just be an option built right into Windows (11?)?

      Take a look at this bag of tricks.  Not the least of which is the return of the quick launch bar to windows 11, as well as the banishing of the system tray clock.
