I tried to set a Restore Point but after naming it, was told “SR can’t work at this time, try rebooting” (or words to that effect). I did this, but got the same message again. I am using NAV 2001 supposed to be compatible with Me. Is NAV the problem or something else?

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerMarch 13, 2002 at 2:12 pm #576044Re-boot in safe mode, wait for ages until the help screen appears and you should be able to restore from there, providing there are any restore points left. If all else fails, no restore points or bad restoration, I have found that half a dozen re-boots along with several shutdowns will allow Winnie Me to repair it’s self. Norton Win Doctor may help but be careful and do repairs yourself. It may try to attach registry entries from programs you have deleted to some other programe causing another problem. NAV not likely the problem but you could try disableing it first.

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 25, 2004 at 7:25 pm #790233Footnote to anyone with same problem. I am reminded about this on this visit, and comment as follows. Microsoft had a file in Windows which terminated after September 2002. The Knowledge Base does know about this and you can download a patch which immediately fixes the problem. I found this answer in the NZ magazine Netscape, and not by searching MS Help.
