Just now I tried to use System Restore to revert to a previous state because, on booting, I was warned that a file named in the system.ini file was missing or corrupt.

I know for certain that I have made three or four manual system restore points earlier this year, but when I opened the System Restore app and selected the radio button to restore to an earlier date I found this situation:

First, the calendar window’s title bar said “Saturday 30 December 1899” (yes, 1899) and then I was warned “There are no restore points created yet for this day. To restore immediately, pick another day and restore point, and then try again..”

I have since made a restore point manually, but I still get the same message. I cannot access my new restore point.

BTW, the “missing file” problem seems to have resolved itself. Which I find faintly disturbing.

Can anybody help me regain the use of System Restore? I have checked the “Disable System Restore” setting in the Troubleshooting tab of the File System Properties window and it is unchecked.

    Best regards
