    I ran System File Check from Command Prompt and then downloaded the details to my desktop but the file is empty?? If SFC can’t fix the problem does that mean I no longer have a clean copy of the file anymore? I’ve run all this twice with the same results.

    Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log %WinDir%LogsCBSCBS.log.

    Thanks

      Most likely, yes, but it’s difficult to say for certain.

      You still have the option of safemode scanning and offline scanning mode in an attempt to effect repair;

      You can even scan a specific file.

      Would doing a reinstall of W8 possibly solve the problem?

      I did this…follow the highlighted cuts…then re-run the “sfc /scannow”. It worked for me.

      I just run the last one,……………/restorehealth. Takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Fixes corruption in the component store, I believe. You need an internet connection to do this.

      I ended up doing a Restore on the advice of hp techs.

        When you say restore, do you mean a restore point?

          No it was a complete restore to original settings. Reinstall Office and anything else that didn’t come with W8. It did force me to do some major house cleaning though.

            Ahh….a factory re-install, as it’s called. Yes, but it’s nice to start fresh with a nice “clean house”. Sometimes it’s best just to do a factory re-install.
