To reduce desktop clutter I’ve used Synergy to share a single keyboard and mouse between several PCs for years. It’s been so useful that I bought the Pro version. I’m used to Synergy’s glitches such as losing the ability to share the common ‘clipboard’ between devices, so much so that I now have a really simple AutoHotkey script (with a keyboard combo) to shut down and restart the Synergy service on Windows devices to restore the ‘shared clipboard’ functionality.
After several years with successive updates to Synergy v1 I was just about ready to remove it on all devices and replace it with Synergy 2, in the hope that the ‘shared clipboard’ issue would finally be resolved. At the last moment, I’ve just received an email that Synergy 2 has been moved back from Stable to Beta… and that this status could last 12-18 months. Ouch… but at least I was warned beforehand.
