• Sync Outlook Notes with IMAP?

I just converted all 5 of my emails from POP3 to IMAP. I really like that even though I was relunctant at first. Loving the folders.
One of the things it does is create a Notes account for each IMAP, but there is no syncing of notes. Can this be done?

    Thanks

Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any way of creating a note in your regular Notes folder and viewing it elsewhere, other than by using Exchange.

However, you can sync IMAP notes, which displays the notes created elsewhere in the same window as your email would appear. So, I can create notes on my iPhone on an Imap account and they’ll appear in the relevant Imap Notes folder in Outlook within a few seconds. Sadly the reverse doesn’t seem to be true, at least for me. But if I create a note in Outlook using a Gmail account it will appear in the Gmail notes folder. When you create the note in Outlook I found that the Subject Header doesn’t get synced, only the body text. To create a new note in Outlook, click on the IMAP notes folder, then from the Home menu (this is 2010) select New Items>More Items> Post in this folder

Another alternative is using something like Evernote which has clients for Windows, iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows Phone 7, Blackberry and syncs them all together.

The IMAP support from Outlook 2010 is a bit hit and miss, though it’s better than 2007 and much better than 2003 (IMHO).

      Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. I am using IMAP on all my accounts, but they don’t sync back and forth at all.
I do use Evernote. Guess I’ll just revert to that. Just strange that notes are listed for each IMAP account but it doesn’t work.
        Thanks for your comments…

Thanks so much for the tip on how to add a note to an IMAP notes folder!

If you have a large folder in the account which is used infrequently, you can unsubscribe from that folder. Unsubscribing from a folder removes it from the Outlook folder list, and may improve the sync performance for the account.

Ok, thanks! Although I use each of the folders a lot and need quick access.
