Sync OneNote from android to PC

I have the OneNote app on my android phone with several many pages of notes. I just installed OneNote 16 (no MS Office) on my laptop and my OneDrive is empty. I want to sync the phone and laptop, but I want to ensure my phone data is saved to OneDrive and not overwritten or deleted. (I did similar thing on another phone and the older data on OneDrive synced to the phone and overwrote all the phone Notebooks). How do I ensure the data on the phone gets onto the computer and the computer/OneDrive don’t overwrite the phone leaving me with no data?
