• Survey Database (Access 2000)

I have access database that I’m ready to deploy. It is anonymous “Diversity Survey” database. Using our intranet we were thinking to send the employees e-mail with a link/short cut when they click, will take them directly to the survey database anonymously. How can this be accomplished?

    Thanks,
    DKD

      This depends on several factors:

      1) All users must have the appropriate version of Access installed (2000 or above in your case)
      2) The database must reside in a network folder that is shared
      3) All users must have the appropriate network permissions to that folder/file

If the database is secured (using an MDW file), things will be a little more complicated because your shortcut will have to include the path and filename of the MSACCESS.EXE file relative to each users’ computer. This could possibly work, but anyone who has Access installed to a different location will not be able to use your shortcut.

With these factors understood, you can make a shortcut to the network location (using the named path or a drive letter, assuming all users have the same drive available):

      ComputerNameFolderNameDatabaseName.mdb

      OR

      N:DatabaseName.mdb

Consult your network administrator for information regarding the network permissions and sharing.

If you know how to use ASP then users could complete the survey with a web browser, and bypass all those issues.

I would agree 100%! ASP is actually a MUCH better alternative.

Of course, you have to have someone who knows how to write ASP and a web server to run the application on. Also, ASP is much more time consuming to develop (probably 500% more time than a similar Access form).

        Just my 2 cents 2cents

You could also drive this from an Access Data Page.

You can use BBCodes to format your content.
Your account can't use all available BBCodes, they will be stripped before saving.
