AskWoody_MVPNovember 27, 2018 at 10:39 am #236638well here’s another surprise, woody.
Deskmodder.de has this recent article which does have official links to the 17763.167 cab file (KB4469342) downloads directly from MS (even abbodi is mentioned there):

AskWoody_MVPNovember 27, 2018 at 11:54 am #236667I’ve read many articles damning the original version of Win10 1809 as poorly tested and unworthy of release — singing to the choir, in this case. Many of those with an opinion say that Win10 1809 should’ve been released to the Insider Preview Ring prior to being released to the world at large.
I’m sorry, but that’s not the case. Microsoft should’ve spent more time on the Insider Slow and Fast rings with 17763.55, the original build of Win10 1809. But 11763.55 shouldn’t have gone out to the Release Preview Ring. Ever.
This makes no sense to me. 17763.55 was a Cumulative Update, not the original build which was 17763.1. And twice in the last 10 days you’ve congratulated Microsoft for releasing Cumulative Updates to the Release Preview ring first.
Which builds do you think the Release Preview ring should have been using on October 2nd and 9th?
Feature Updates 1607, 1703, 1709, 1803 all reached Release Preview before general release, but 1809 did not. Isn’t there a reasonable chance that some of the bugs in 1809 would have become apparent before general release if it had also reached Release Preview a week or two earlier?

GuestNovember 27, 2018 at 1:06 pm #236686Honestly, sorry Woody but I cannot be constructive anymore towards Microsoft. This is too little too late.
I do not trust them any longer and I refuse Microsoft as much as I can, to the point I’ve got a new laptop that has been on repair for 3 times now and ready for the 4th. After this, the next time it goes to repair, since I’m struggling to get Linux running on that UEFI, if it’s the 3rd repair for the same problem, I can reclaim my money back under Portuguese warranty, and I’ll spend some more money on a Linux friendlier laptop. But Microsoft, thanks but no thanks, much less paying $100 more for just the ability to control updates – I find that absolutely preposterous.
If I absolutely need some Windows software, I’ll run in on a VM under Windows 8.1 Embeded Industry Enterprise.
Trust in Microsoft is lost.

AskWoody LoungerNovember 27, 2018 at 2:14 pm #236719Woody, I am running Win 10 Home 1803. I have not been offered 1809. Last CU was 11/17 KB4023057. Has 1809 been put on hold for consumer market or do I need to “Check for Updates” to get it. I never “Check for Updates” (Seeker). I guess I’m a bit confused with all the discussion about 1809 being released and CU updates for it already. Will Microsoft release it to me eventually? I’m not in a hurry mind you but I didn’t know if it was released to the market yet or has it been pulled back? My HP is running good with no issues from last CU 4023057.

AskWoody_MVPNovember 27, 2018 at 2:35 pm #236728“We will offer the October Update to users via Windows Update when data shows your device is ready and you will have a great experience. If we detect that your device may have an issue, such as an application incompatibility, we will not install the update until that issue is resolved, even if you “Check for updates,” so you avoid encountering any known problems.”
Resuming the rollout of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update1 user thanked author for this post.
