If you have a Surface Book, Surface Pro 4, or any Windows 10 machine with a Skylake processor, you need to read this from Paul Thurrott.

@woody, all here are ms alternative so you decide if its suitable to your editorial standard and not sure where to post this ‘rant’ so feel free to reject it. Thanks.

      a wkend ‘rant’ sharing 🙂

      So it begins….

      http://www.softorbits.com/windows-10-privacy-protector/

      HA 😀

p/s this is NOT a recomandation nor do I profit from the link or whatsoever…. I dont use w10 period I rather try my luck w linux or Mac or the chinese platform… you decide whats best for your individual needs.

This is a serious joke what the ‘mordern soceity’ fails horribly and call it ‘advance technology’ – invade the customer privacy so they/somebody else can sell another piece to ‘restore’ privacy. It like the agency feed the population w food lace w poison then sell them the ‘cure’ and tell them how to be ‘healthy’ by join their exclusive longevity club… This is what makes the world goes round… this is humanity? sad sad charecter sad story

The only lesson human learn from history is human has not learn anything from history.

found this site about ‘learning from history’… looks interesting….
      http://www.age-of-the-sage.org/philosophy/history/learning_from_history.html

May we, the user, be just that shade better… decide whats best (in the future thats the writing on the wall) for you now while you are still able to migrate… safely at your leisure…

and the human said the animals are stupid as they dont or lack learning abilities…. exceptional and indispensable ‘m$’? Prove yourself worthy then…

and those who fail to learn from history ultimately will parish by their ignorance and willful choice…
it is almost certain a sad sad ending coming….
espacially if there be a ‘next life’ after death of ‘this life’… wouldn’t it be interesting for accoutning session?

If there be nothing after, then why borther acting out all the evil? acting evil takes so much energy to hide and disgiuse and whatever… why not just chill and enjoy the present moment? how much can one grab with his hands? two hands full. MAX. and there is no one with 3 or more hands. why is that so dear creator/god? dont you think some of us need a million hands?

      just a rational thought sequence…

hv a good wkend & Peace all,

‘Save us Bill Gates!’ Satirical video game slams billionaire’s philanthropy
      https://www.rt.com/uk/329838-bill-gates-game-philanthropy/

This is going into ‘circus’ level and soon…. the next level ‘witchhunt’ when the blame-game is turn on… the politician or the younger generation-leader-consumer will want smth too. History checked. and in the empire soft-wear may just be the most disposable ‘asset’ and servants in the castle sent off to find better future else where and the user will be left fending for themselves against the ‘cruel’ world out there… SAVE US!

well not everyone gets to be sue by their loyal country… someone once said that b4… learn anything?

better back up your life’s work and precious-memory-data (offline) for the unforseen

feels like earth-world history page is turning….

      Keep happy Peace all,

On the other hand, Skylake is technically designed to work with the requirements of Windows 10, not Windows 7. Windows 7 does not require the features of Skylake, so other, less costly processors are still available for Windows 7 PCs. It’s not like every PC out there is now or soon will be based on Skylake processors. And the processor type and generation are not hidden from the public or from reviewers.

Just know what you’re buying into when you buy new equipment. Businesses already know to do this. I use Linux, so Imight not appreciate not being able to turn off Secure Boot. So I can find out whether a particular replacement laptop or 2 in 1 has the option to turn off Secure Boot, and if not, go elsewhere in my search.

Consumers have simply got to stop accepting that the latest, newest, most powerful processors are mandatory for good end user experiences. The same goes for RAM size and graphics cards/processors. Few non-gamers will notice the difference between Skylake and BayTrail in our everyday web surfing, video streaming and email or social media updating activities.

If we all took a more relaxed attitude and only upgraded when we really experience the limitations of our old hardware, the PC industry would do a belly-flop, but after a big shakeout, we would all have more money in our pockets and more control over what happens with and to our own PCs and operating systems (and paid software).

Nothing makes for-profit companies turn their attitudes around faster than a boycott.

At this point from my reaserch I can confirm that keylogging is certainly in play. So for the past 15 years I was instructed that if I found one to irradicate it with extreme predjudice. So now this technology is a “feature”? There’s only one reason for this type of technology. Also, voice data is also being harvested even after you uninstall the Cortana feature. This doesn’t end well and I would discourge the use of this OS for these reasons alone. I think the typical user needs to be informed that this is akin to MS coming to your house and grabbing every scrap of physical data “in order to improve your experience”. Some people would respond in kind with a simple “Go away.” others might take the approach of a shotgun “Get the hell off my propery!” If you bend on privacy what can we take away for you next?

While I share your concerns, I’m not convinced that all the evidence is in.

Clearly, Microsoft’s routines to perform error correction track everything you type. That’s been the case since Word 95, if memory serves. It’s been expanded with Cortana. But where’s the smoking gun? Has anybody caught Microsoft sending stored keylogged data to the mother ship?

Similarly, Cortana needs to listen to the mike. Windows Hello, if enabled for face recognition, has to watch your camera. That’s why Fox Mulder put tape on his. But, again, has anybody caught Microsoft sending the info to its databases?

I think Microsoft needs to make clear what data is being collected — beyond the hand-waving we have now. They need to make it easier to turn the collection off, to review what’s been collected, and to delete anything that you don’t want kept.

It’s not just Microsoft. I think every company that collects data should be required to fess up, and offer tools to manage what’s being harvested.

      And every government organization, too.
