My SP 6 is dropping the Ethernet internet connection frequently. I have tried everything I found on the internet to no avail and am beginning to think it may be a hardware problem. If so I fear the connection hardware would be part of the motherboard. If I reboot it starts working again but this is not very practical in the middle of a Zoom conference call!

    Any ideas please?

In Device Manager, right click on the NIC, choose Properties, look on the Power Management tab (or equivalent on your machine) and uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power”

You can also look for a similar setting(s) under Power Options.

I also have the same issue.  My ethernet connection drops 3 times per hour.  I connect directly to the Surface Pro laptop with an Ethernet USB adapter.  The wifi connection is however stable.  I unchecked the “Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power” option with no effect on the problem.  My specs are:

        System Model Surface Laptop 3

OS Name Microsoft Windows 11 Pro

        Version 10.0.22000 Build 22000

        Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1065G7 CPU @ 1.30GHz, 1498 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
