I have a Surface Pro 3 with the keyboard cover running WIN10.

For a while I seemed to have lost use of my Fn key, with the default being the F1-F12 keys activated, the keyboard backlight keys through PgDn inaccessible.

Now, the Fn key does work, but in reverse of what I think it should be. The actual function keys (F1-F12) are the default, and I have to press and hold the Fn key to access the Home/End/PgUp/PgDn/settings/device/and so on across the top keys.

Shouldn’t I have to press the Fn key to access the actual function keys (F1-F12) and have ‘normal’ access to the PgUp/PgDn, etc keys unhindered?

How do I reverse the function of the Fn key?

By default, the F12 key is PgDn and Fn-F12 is F12. Fn-CAPS is a toggle that changes what the Fn does.

Thank you for your reply gsmith-plm…

Ahhh, but that isn’t the case with my esteemed keyboard.

F12 is the default UNLESS I press and hold the Fn key.
I find no relationship with the Caps as a toggle for anything.

Caps off, without pressing the Fn key, F12 acts like F12.
Caps on, without pressing the Fn key, F12 acts like F12.

Caps off, holding, and not releasing, the Fn key, F12 acts as PgUp.
Caps on, holding, and not releasing, the Fn key, F12 acts as PgUp.

If I try combinations of Caps on/off and ‘toggling’ the Fn key, no difference from the above.

So, on my keyboard, the default is reverse what should be a normal default.

Press Cap lock and Fn at the same time.

Glad that worked, but I got the sequence wrong. Hold down the Fn key and press CAPS. That acts as a toggle to swap the primary function of the top row of keys. BTW, one key missing is INS.

Shows you how well I follow directions.

      Thanks again!
