Suppress display of fax numbers

I have fax numbers enetred for many of the contacts in my Contatcs folder. When Ii create a new e-mail message, I click the “To” button to show the Global Address List, then from the list box at the top right, I choose the “Contacts” folder at the bottom of the list of options. My question is, the contact e-mail addresses AND fax numbers appear. I have so many contacts — is there a way to suppress the display of the fax numbers, and just have the e-mail addresses display? Thanks in advance, I love this forum!

sorry, no. fax numbers are a valid address if fax is installed. the only way you can do it is to create a separate folder for fax number and not use it as an outlook address book.

I’ve had the very same problem, even when fax is not installed. I found a bit of a workaround though — I changed my “E-mail Service Options” to “Internet Only” instead of “Corporate or Workgroup”. I then went to the Windows Address Book, and set Options to “Share Contact Information with Outlook”. I can put people in my Contacts folder, complete with fax number, but only the email address pops up when I click on the “To…” or other address selector buttons.

When your “E-mail Service Options” are set to “Corporate or Workgroup”, the Windows Address Book is cut out of the loop, and fax numbers from Contacts will show as valid e-mail addresses.

I don’t know what functionality might be lost from using this setting, but experience hasn’t indicated any poorer performance, and I only see the addresses I need when emailing.

if you saw no loss in functionally, then you didn’t need corporate to begin with and are better served with internet mode. You also benefit with a faster mail client and the send usiung feature for multiple accounts.

corporate’s benefits are 1) exchange server connectivity 2) multiple profiles. If you don’t need either of those, internet is the better choice.

How can I uninstall “Microsoft Fax” then? We are in “Corporate or Workgroup” mode by the way, if that helps…
