How do you sum in a query for columns and not rows? I have Access 2000.

If you mean you want to see the selected rows with a total at the bottom in a query, that isn’t the way a query works. You can get the sum (without listing all the records) with a Totals Query or you can base a report on your query that lists all the records and sum the “column” on the report.

If you mean you want to add a bunch of fields together and show them at the end of the “row”, just do exactly that. In the Query design grid, add a calculated field at the right that says something like
      SumofFields: Field1+Field2+Field3+Field4
