Good Morning. I am thinking of replacing my Linksys Router ( WRT54G version 6) with a new Linksys router that will be good for video streaming with a Samsung Blu-ray Disc Player. Maybe someone here has some suggestions. Cannot log in to the Linksys forum for input as I get an error message “scripting for Active X might be disabled.” Don’t think so, nor do I get an offer to click for a temp enable.

Patch reliability is unclear, but widespread attacks make patching prudent. Go ahead and patch, but watch out for potential problems. |

AskWoody_MVPDecember 27, 2009 at 10:58 am #1194221DaveA, I’m using Comcast cable and it has pretty good speed – – much better than the AT&T connection I previously had. I believe Cisco has several Linksys routers they are promoting for gaming and streaming video but they are expensive I’m sure.
I also have a Comcast connection, but remember that ALL provider list their speeds as “Up to xx speed” that means “0-XX”
DaveA I am so far behind, I think I am First

AskWoody MVPDecember 27, 2009 at 2:36 am #1194178I’m assuming you are streaming from a player on the network, not via the internet.
The throughput on the router will be more than enough to stream the video, but you may have problems if you connect via wireless at less than 56Mbps – blu-ray players stream at about 40Mbps and you need room for the network overhead. I would perform some speed tests on your system before buying a new router.
cheers, Paul
