Subtotal Issues (2007)

I am having some weird position issues with subtotals. I have attached a stripped down spreadsheet to view the problem. The problem arises because I have multiple levels of subtotaling in this spreadsheet. The first subtotal is on column C, the second on D, third on F, fourth on E, fifth on G. Excel is changing the position of the position of the subtotal and the outlining and I do not understand why or how to get things back in the correct order. I have used the same steps on different data that is formatted the same without such a result. Has anyone else seen this with Excel 2007 and have a suggestion for correcting the problem?

Users who use the Subtotal feature might find that the location of their subtotals is different than it was in versions earlier than Excel 2000, but otherwise the feature works as expected. Calculations are correct, and the correct subtotals and grand totals are created. Only the location has changed.

[/indent]I don’t have Excel 2007 myself, so I can only confirm that the position is indeed different than in Excel 2002.

I have attached a different file that shows that the procedures below work correctly some of the time. If anyone else has any idea, please let me know.
