Subtotal function in Excel 2007 (2007)

It seems that the subtotal command no longer works when you use Microsoft Query to dump out data to Excel. I’ve dumped data to a table and the subtotal command under the outline group is greyed out. Is there another way to subtotal other than manually or in a pivot table?

I’m not in front of a 2007 machine at the moment to test, but from what I recall reading, you cannot use the subtotals functionality with Tables, and querytables are treated as Tables. You can either convert it back to a normal range or use a pivot table.

I simply copy the entire worksheet and paste “values only” and then subtotals work.
