I have a HP PhotoSmart 1215 connected to my Dell Computer via a USB connection on a 833Mhz CPU Model 4100 Dimension
running WinME and it has a port connection of DOT4_001
and I’ve never seen this port indication before..Any info
as to what it is and what it means…the printer works OK
but just would like to know any info on this printer port.
Thanks for any advice and/or info.

This port (DOT4_001)is for the HP PhotoSmart printer.
Look at this page from HP:

I’ve just got an HP photosmart 1215. Can I still use my Officejet on the parallel port?

Don’t see why not – I’ve got an HP All-in-one on a USB port (part of their Delta test), and on one parallel port another type of HP All-in-one (Officejet 600) and on another parallel port an HP 672 printer hooked up (that is actually switched between two computers with an A/B switch and everything works just fine) – it is rather wierd to see three different printers going at the same time – but I have been able to do just that.
