I run win 2000 with IE 6.0 and as far as I know I am completely up to date with fixes.

When I run IE and am using the slider on the right hand side – sometimes my fat right hand little finger hits the right most button on a three button mouse. When this happens – I get a cursor that appears to be a circle with a dot in the middle and an up and down arrow at the top and bottom of the circle.

If I don’t notice the change – the cursor seems to lock in on the slider and the least movement sends it scurrying around. Sometimes it is a “sticky cursor” and I have to get off of the mouse and then single click on the right button to make it go away. Other times – I pull my fat finger off and the normal cursor returns.

I have tried every term I can think of in google and also windows 2000 help to see
    1) what this strange cursor is called
    2) what it’s purpose in life might be

I’m sure someone knows the answer – just not me

    Thanks in advance.

    Tom

I should have tested more thouroughly before I posted –

I have to hit both the middle and the right buttons simultaneously for this to occur

Sorry about not being more explicit.

It’s a continuous scroll option. Say you’re reading a long Word document. When you get this mouse pointer, you can make the document scroll down by dragging the mouse pointer slightly down; the farther you drag it, the faster the document will scroll. Drag the mouse pointer upwards to scroll up.

You may be able to turn this behavior off in the Mouse control panel, it depends on the mouse driver.
