For the past couple of days, my Lenovo T420s (8G) Win 7 Pro docked w/dell 2407 monitor has been exhibiting strange behavior: my mouse (logitch performance mx) become hypersensitive. That is, without having changed any settings, the mouse launches applications/opens ljinks, etc

If it is a wireless mouse are the batteries OK?
If it is wireless have you moved any other wireless devices near the PC recently?
      Have you re-booted?

Sorry to have stopped, but the behavior was insane. It’s abated for now, but…. The mouse is wireless, but plugged in. The only wireless devices (other than the router) nearby are my iPhone and iPad. I did disable the touchpad on the the T420s, which seems to help sometimes.

I also have a phenomenon that when in the dock, I have to boot the computer two or more times before it really starts. It hangs on the Thinkpad screen the first time, sometimes the second or third. I have the external monitor and a couple of external drives and speakers attached, so I assume it’s somehow related to them, but unclear. Sometimes I have to ‘clear’ the T420s by undocking it and removing the battery(ies – if I have the ultrabay battery in, which I do sometimes).

All very odd. I can’t get into the recovery program because I’ve lost my windows password and always get in with my fingerprint reader…. argh. I’ve been doing computers and networks for more than 25 years now, but I feel like a complete tyro….

I wonder if you have a bad mouse. Try hooking up a standard USB mouse. If you have another computer available, swap mice with the other computer to see if the problem is with the computer or with the mouse.

i have seen “flakey” docking stations that produce strange affects. i use one at work now on a lenovo thinkpad.

i need to be very careful with alignment before i dock, and then need to press down quite hard to dock it. i sometimes worry about breaking the screen.

i have also had to disable “legacy port” support in the bios (the parallel port on the dock) to make it dock/undock reliably.

also, for best chance of working i need to power-off to dock or undock.

if you try it for a day without the dock do the problems go away?good luck!
