Is there a way to stop Windows reverting telemetry settings after every update? I want to prevent Microsoft from tracking me as best as I can, but after every monthly update I have to go into O&O Shutup and change the telemetry settings to disable… again. It seems the monthly updates reset privacy and telemetry settings back to default values every time.

AskWoody LoungerMay 6, 2022 at 6:15 am #2444588I also use O&O Shutup and it very clearly warns you that Windows updates can revert some of its settings and you’ll need to run it again to reset them.
In my case, once I’ve set everything the way I want, I used its Export settings… option to save them and then its Import settings… option to reset them after a Windows update.
Note: when O&O Shutup updates itself, you’ll need to go thru all the settings again as they regularly add/remove some of them to account for the changing Windows telemetry landscape.

Not yet.
Always create a fresh drive image before making system changes/Windows updates; you may need to start over!We all have our own reasons for doing the things that we do with our systems; we don't need anyone's approval, and we don't all have to do the same things. We were all once "Average Users". -

AskWoody LoungerMay 8, 2022 at 8:37 pm #2445158What you need is something similar to the Win10Tel.cmd script from our abbodi86. The Win10Tel.cmd script is for Windows 7 and Windows 8x computers. See the link below for the Askwoody topic in which he describes it in detail:
I don’t know if abbodi86 has created a similar cmd script for Windows 10. Perhaps ask him!

No, I didn’t write that.
