    Hi,

    Outlook 2007 on Exchange 2013.

I have a couple of people that use Outlook cached mode and will also access their mailboxes through Blackberry and OWA. Fairly regularly messages in the inbox will be marked as having a conflict. This in itself is not that much of a problem except we have an application that automatically files emails from the inbox and then marks it as being filed to a document management system – when an email displays a conflict, it overwrites the filed icon and the user does not know at a glance whether this can be deleted or not.

What I want to know is….is there a way that this conflict process can be switched off?

    Thanks

    Alba

Is the filed email replaced by a shortcut / link or is it just an icon change. If it’s just an icon change you’re probably better off running a process against the mailbox that checks the icons are correct.

Is the deletion a manual process? Can’t the application change the icon back to “filed”?

          Hi Joe,

The deletion is a manual process (though there is the option to File, then delete automatically – this may well be the way forward). I have looked to see if there is a way that this can be changed back to ‘filed’ however I’ve not found it yet! I’ll log a support call with the developers and see what they suggest..

          Thanks!

        Thanks Paul,

It is just an icon change – the item remains in the mailbox until it is deleted manually. I have never heard of any utilities that check that icons are correct – are there any you can suggest? However, I would think that as far as Outlook is concerned that the icon is correct – the item was filed to our DMS, and after that point in time it had a sync issue – so the last action reported against the item is the sync.

I have a couple of other users on Outlook 2003 with Cached Mode on, and even though they have lots of items in their sync folders, none of their items in their inbox/sent items are marked as having a sync problem. Is there a reg key to switch this off, or is it just a ‘feature’ of 2007?

        Thanks

There isn’t a utility unless it’s provided by your archive software supplier. You may have to write one yourself in vbs/PowerShell and run it on the server.

Thanks Paul – don’t you just love Microsoft features!

Not MS fault that you have a 3rd party app that doesn’t manage Outlook sync…
