    Here’s a sad deficit in Word97/SR2:

Too many toolbars jammed up against each other results in an abbreviated toolbar with a little dart-like chevron to the right-hand side.

Now I know the that toolbar is abbreviated and there’s more stuff on it, and Word97 knows that the toolbar is abbreviated and there’s more stuff on it, and Word97 is in control here, dammit, so why don’t they turn the chevron into a transient menu item?

I OUGHT to be able to click on that chevron and have a transient pop-up list of those items which are temporarily hidden.

      Hi,

Just thought you might like to know that Word 2000 implements that feature on its chevron. Also the additional option of adding or removing buttons without having to go to Tools,Options,Customize.

I would think one of your magic macros is called for to rid yourself of that annoyance.

Yes!!! that irked me too. Always wondered why the chevron wasn’t able to work to show items off the toolbar. Bugged me enough so I created my own toolbar with stuff on it I wanted & was not available through sh/cut keys and cleaned out some of the standard items I deemed unnecesary.

Woody wrote in TUG that the book would pay for itself in the first chapter.

Halfway through the first chapter he’d convinced me. I dragged all that marketing stuff off the Standard toolbar, installed HIS ShowAll, and never looked back.

I would if I got it.

Went to the home page and clicked on http://www.woodyswatch.com/office/ but we are “unable to locate the server””. Sigh!

Are you able to post a direct link to the issue for me/us?

              Chris,

              Here’s the link.

I had a little bit of trouble getting there myself.

I’d suggest you subscribe to it as an email send-out.
