I am seeking a remedy to get my splash and start-up screen back to full size on my monitor. The welcome screen after windows loads and after log on, everything is fine. But the OEM logo splash and BIOS option access and Windows XP start-up with “loading” GIF are only about 75% of regular size. This happened previously about year ago but can’t recall what I did to fix it. It seems it was a function+F key or BIOS setting, but after rooting around, nothing seemed familiar. Resolution size is correct and need not be tampered with and there is no need to do a system restore as a “Support” tech would have you do.

    Any ideas, anyone?? Please advise

      which OEM?

I disabled the splash screen on a dell for a friend, now he gets a small dell icon and sees the boot menu in the rest of the screen. I forget what I changed though, or how i did it. grin Look for boot menu or fast boot options in the bios menus.

Resetting the bios to factory setting might restore it, but a system restore probably would not, unless it also reset the bios.

I have a Fujitsu series C 7631 Mobile desktop. Disabling the splash is easy to do, but what I wish to do is have it start up fulll screen like it used to. Nothing looked familiar in the boot options. Any ideas??

Thanx for your post! I have had the fortune of figuring out the issue here back in July. I am sorry, I should have posted an update but forgot. sorry

I have a function that allows me to toggle between display sizes on the LCD monitor by pressing Fn+F5. There is normally a key or key combination on the keyboard for to do this. Most computer monitors have this function listed in the manual for settings of brightness, contrast, display, volume, etc. Function key [Fn] plus one of the F keys at the top of the keyboard adjust various settings, for example, Fn+F3 adjusts volume, Fn+F4 toggles between mice, Fn+F6 adjusts brightness, Fn+F10 toggles between additional monitors, and the one for display mentioned above.

In CRT monitors, when the splash screen comes up, the graphics are only in VGA mode till the graphics card kicks in and switches to SVGA mode as the OS loads. So, one way to adjust it is while the splash screen loads hit the pause key to pause what’s on screen and adjust the vertical and horizontal size. When the screen goes into SVGA mode the adjustment for SVGA is stored in a separate memory. CRT monitors often have a few memories for different screen resolutions. When the XP logo comes on, press Pause. Adjust your monitor settings then. Adjust it to full screen, and then press ENTER or something else for the OS to continue loading. Reboot the PC later and see if the monitor saved your settings.
