Hi,
When I do a spellcheck on my document in Word 2003 the programm stops responding and comes back with an autorecovery of the document.
I disabled the automatic check, can’t work with that this way. But also when I do a check by hand as soon as the doc is completed (and saved), Word has the
same behavior.
It’s the Dutch version of Office 2003 installed on XPPro.
Any idea?
George

AskWoody LoungerJanuary 26, 2004 at 11:46 am #774218Hi George:
I’m not sure what would cause this, but I would start by following the steps in post 197827.
Hope this helps, -

AskWoody LoungerJanuary 26, 2004 at 3:56 pm #774352Hi George:
I could find nothing on the Microsoft Knowledge Base about this. Are you saying that when you start Word from the command line (winword.exe /a), you still get the problem? Try rebooting & then End Task on everything except Explorer & systray. Then see if you can fire up Word & do a spellcheck. This may show that some other program is interferring. You could try Detect & Repair (assuming that it exists in Word 2003). Or even reinstalling the proofing tools. Other than that, I’m out of ideas.

AskWoody PlusJanuary 27, 2004 at 7:48 pm #775081Hi Phil,
Thanx for thinking with me. I has to do with the proofing tools.
I guess it’s because I had to leave Outlook 98 on that machine it’s shared files stayed there too. Outlook 98 was an upgrade from 97 whick was installed with Office 97. I found normal.dot in the old dir of 97. For compatibility (syncing with a psion) they need outlook 98. They settled for turning of spellcheck. They can live with it.
So, for now this thread can be closed. Thnx again. George -
