Hi,
I have just discovered a site with some nifty utilities for optimising PC/internet speed. I have run both of the programs currently available at the site and my computer now positively flies along. Anyone in need of more speed should check this out. Give it a whirl!

Patch reliability is unclear, but widespread attacks make patching prudent. Go ahead and patch, but watch out for potential problems. |

AskWoody LoungerApril 1, 2001 at 5:23 pm #1781158….it means, Avril, that when anything or anybody tells you that their product (or one they’ve used) will enormously increase the speed of your (correctly set up and configured) browser, that you take it ‘with a grain of salt’, which is to say you’ll believe it when you see it.
This one does something called ‘scrubbing the TCP/IP pipe’ and you have to stay on-site 5-10 minutes. Suspicious yet?
I may be doing the guy a disfavour (for which I’m heartily sorry), but with a name like his and a date like today’s, my grain of salt is a great big one. (and read the name of the website he sends you to backwards).
I didn’t want to spoil his spoof, which is why I put it in Latin.
Cheers -

AskWoody LoungerApril 2, 2001 at 7:47 pm #1781213I dont know about the rest of the people who replied in this thread, but my time is precious and I read the information in this and other threads in emails Woody kindly send, because its quick and easy. I am not too thrilled when 14 out of the 15 entries in one mail are about idle chatter, and 2 of those entries from the moderator. There are millions of places to chat, so come on everyone, use the forum for its intended purpose, please.

AskWoody LoungerApril 2, 2001 at 9:19 pm #1781223Now Doug, you did get the gist of the topic did you not? Even if you needed to go three entries down, it should have become obvious, this was an April Fools prank, and frankly I got chuckle out of it. Normally the lounge reserves strictly fun threads to the Scuttlebutt section, however, it would have been transparent and lost its impact there. I’m sure whoever the original poster was, just intended a little fun and the follow up posters got the joke.

?? No way!
I like the trivial ‘nonsense’ which is posted in the threads, it adds the ‘human element,’ makes this place fun!
We don’t have a forum entitled ‘Waste Time,’ so we’ll just have to settle from getting our kicks from the content which is ‘meaningless,’ or doesn’t pertain to the topic.. per say..
