Can anyone straighten me out please? I was playing around with some settings in my contacts and lost the view that I had.

I had my contacts sorted by category, and the contacts in each category were listed alphabetically by last name. I have tried a variety of different settings to try and restore this but nothing is the way it was. I either end up with everything by category (and un-alphabetized) or alphabetized (and not categorized). I’m sure it must be simple and I’m just missing the boat.

    TIA

    Deb

      Solved.

After much playing around, I found the following in case anyone else needs to do this. Under Customize View: Set Group By: Categories. Set Sort (and choose the field you want sorted; in my case it was the “file as” field) to Ascending.

      This has done the trick.

Just a suggestion: save the existing View with a meanigful name under View|Arrange By|Current View|Define View . That way you won’t have to stretch yourself at all in reactivating the View – should it come unstuck again. whisperViews are stored inside individual PST files – rather than in any external settings. And a brilliant suggestion it is!

I will certainly do just that. Thank-you.
