    Hi everyone, first post.

TPM 2.0 (after  UEFI/BIOS update) and/or Windows 11 Pro 22H2 got the sign-in procedure corrupt in some way. Tried every procedures found on the net. Nothing works so far. The “Setup my PIN” do not respond. So far I tried disabling the PIN request in the registry (DevicePasswordLessBuildVersion)in command mode through REC, I tried with deleting the NGC folder, I tried with a Restoration Point, I tried in Safe Mode that do not work at all, I tried Startup Repair, nothing works. I am running out of ideas. I still have my PIN number and my Microsoft password. If I could bypass the PIN sign-in and login using my regular password would be a solution, I think.

    Thanks for your help,

    Sylvain T.

Did the BIOS update reset, disable, or clear the TPM I wonder?

Hi, the problem appeared after the first reboot following the BIOS update. Afterward I shutdown the system, cleared the CMOS, load defaults settings and rebooted. This, did not change the PIN sign-in problem.

Unfortunately, I do not see “I forgot my PIN” and “Sign-in options”. I am stuck with “Setup my PIN” which do not work.

Reset Your PIN in Windows Settings (via Safe Mode)

Re-registering your PIN from scratch can also resolve the problem, especially if signing into Windows using a local account. Instead, sign in using alternate options like password or fingerprint, and follow the steps below. Boot your computer into safe mode if alternative sign-in options aren’t available.

How to Fix “Something Happened and Your Pin Isn’t Available” Error in Windows

If you have a backup you can safely reinstall Windows to get around the problem.
If you don’t have a backup you need to check if the hard disk is encrypted (Bitlocker). Do this by booting from a Windows recovery / Linux USB and look for partitions and files on the disk. If you can only see a couple of partitions but nothing on the biggest then you probably have an encrypted disk.
If the disk is not encrypted you can make an image backup to external disk and then reinstall.

      cheers, Paul

I have not enable Bitlocker on that system. I have backups available, disks images and documents on different media. I tried to restore from the latest disk image I had and surprisingly the result was the same. I use Macrium Home Reflect. On the last resort I will reset the system completely. But I had to pursue to find a solution for a “glitch” between TPM 2.0 and Windows 11 Pro.

      Thanks

Here’s a general broad list of things to try. I didn’t create it but it caught my eye. You’ve already done some of them and more. Sometimes outlines like this are thought starters that are helpful.

      1. (already done) Check your PIN: Make sure you haven’t entered the wrong PIN or forgotten your PIN. If you have, you’ll need to reset your PIN.

      2. Check your TPM: Ensure that your TPM is enabled and functioning correctly. You can check this by going to Settings > Update & Security > Device Security > TPM.

      3. Check for updates: Make sure your system is up to date by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

      4. Disable and re-enable PIN sign-in: Try disabling PIN sign-in and then re-enabling it to see if that resolves the issue. To do this, go to Settings > Update & Security > Device Security > PIN sign-in.

      5. Check for third-party interference: If you have any third-party security software installed, try temporarily disabling it to see if that resolves the issue.

      6. Check for corrupted system files: Run a System File Checker (SFC) scan to check for any corrupted system files. To do this, open the Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following command: sfc /scannow.

      7. (Already did this) Try a System Restore: If you have made recent changes to your system, try restoring it to a previous point when the issue was not present.

      8. Contact Microsoft Support: A few years ago, I reached out to MS Support for windows store issue and they 1) Took my call, and 2) fixed the problem. I was expecting an endless rabbit hole, but it was refreshingly effective. YMMV.
