A few days ago, I found that the Snipping Tool in Windows 7 Pro won’t ‘save as’ and doesn’t open a window to do so.
I can still copy and paste with it.

As far as I know I’ve changed nothing on the computer settings – just upgraded Flash from 10.2 to 10.3 & did a couple of Windows updates on June 3rd:KB2506928, & KB917797 (Defender).

Any ideas as to why it won’t ‘save as’ ?

Have you tried a System Restore back to a time when you know it was working?

Also, see if the answer at Snipping Tool Won’t Save applies to you.

Thanks Joe – I had searched for threads with ‘snipping tool’ but didn’t find that one!

Sadly, I did delete the My Pictures folder recently and it’s no longer in the recycle bin! 🙁

Not keen on system restore as I’ve done a lot of work in recent days.
Is there no way to just download a replacement My Pictures folder …or can I just create a new folder named as such ?

See the registry file download for My Pictures under option 2 at Restore Default User Folders.

I haven’t got round to trying the downloaded registry file yet, but today, I used the Snipping Tool and was going to use ‘copy’ to paste into ACDSee, but clicked on ‘save as’ instead ..and it worked!
When I looked, there’s another empty folder back in Users called My Pictures dated as created yesterday at 20.42.
Can’t recall what I was doing at 20.42, but I’m sure it was nothing related …most likely editing some photos or painting. No updates or anything like that.

I do know that when I had XP, it kept eventually regenerating the empty ‘My’ files such as pictures, music, videos etc. every time I deleted them. Is it likely that Windows 7 also does this ?
