GuestJune 10, 2024 at 8:08 am #2679567I understand the subscription base for software, however, this (like many others) is a pricey option for personal home use. I can understand for those who use it as part of their business. I wish they would offer a personal version, even if it doesn’t provide the high end features that probably wouldn’t be needed for home use.
For now, I use PicPick, a free version for screen capture, which does much of what I need, for the occasional screen print that I need. The Microsoft version, doesn’t work well on my PC. It used to work then the latest caused problems where it runs but the key shortcut doesn’t want to work (the shortcut works for other screen prints I tried so it’s not my PC).

AskWoody PlusJune 10, 2024 at 11:15 am #2679636Thank you for your detailed article regarding SnagIt on June 10, 2024.
With a solo LLC, this software gives me the tools I need for business and tech writing and editing work.
Having been on Version 2020 for quite a while, I took your advice and upgraded to the 2024 version as a one-time purchase. —Linda1 user thanked author for this post.

AskWoody PlusJune 10, 2024 at 11:31 am #2679652I used SnagIt from 2016-2019. It was an effective tool, but they kept adding features and changing the interface to justify new versions annually, behaving like SAAS without calling it that. The constant interface and feature changes were finally too much. At least now SnagIt has come out of the closet and openly switched to the SAAS licensing model. I don’t participate in SAAS licensing, so SnagIt has taken itself off the table. It was an excellent tool in earlier days.

The above is a Paint cropped Print Screen shot of a Word document with the background of an image of the sky here in central Florida, then saved as a .png.
Always create a fresh drive image before making system changes/Windows updates; you may need to start over!We all have our own reasons for doing the things that we do with our systems; we don't need anyone's approval, and we don't all have to do the same things. We were all once "Average Users".1 user thanked author for this post.

GuestJune 21, 2024 at 6:03 am #2682328I have just checked on their web site, but see no “special offer for Snagit 2024 as a one-time product”, as mentioned in your article.
I already have Snagit 24 purchased under a “subscription” back in 2022 for which I now pay CHF 12.29 per year. But you state this scheme will cease for 2025.
How do I find the special offer, since I don’t think that any future releases will improve on the present 2024 release?
Regards
