Although I also run Linux Mint and was preparing to ditch Windows next year, there are certain things that just don’t work as I want in Linux.
So now I am seriously debating to upgrade my Windows 10 Pro 22H2 pc to Windows Pro 11 23H2. I’d prefer an upgrade so I don’t have to reinstall everything and keep most of my settings.
(I have an October iso version of Win11 23H2 ready, and my pc is TPM 2.0 etc ready.)

What is the smoothest/easiest way to perform this upgrade?

I have an October iso version of Win11 23H2 ready

First make a full image backup of your PC

Mount the ISO (double click on the file).
Open the drive and run setup.exe then select keeping apps and data.

Don’t forget to unmount the drive after the update.

Hi Alex, (thanks btw for all your out of the Woody-box articles/links)

So it’s that simple, right? I read so much mess about Windows 11 and its versions that I was not sure anymore what to do best.

Once I anchor version 11 23H2 in gpedit will the upgrade and subsequent updates honor that setting? Or any of my gpedit settings?

Check and make note of you GPEdit settings in Win10. Some are in different places in Group Policy in Win11. You may want to verify the important ones are still in place after the upgrade. You need to find out where they are anyway.

BTW, if you have a choice to update or not (download from Windows Update during the upgrade), wait and upgrade afterward so you have some choice in what you want to install. Actually, I think the upgrade can be run offline.

      Update after two days:

Turns out my Windows 11 23H2 iso’s don’t work (anymore).
One was from massgrave.dev, the other from uupdump.net.

I’m not in a hurry, so I will wait till Susan gives a go for 24H2 and simply use the Installation Assistant to upgrade.

        Doesn’t work how?
        Can’t boot?
        Can’t install?

        cheers, Paul
