Slow application (Word 2003)

Recently upgraded to Word 2003 at work using Windows XP. The application is very slow to respond to text entry, save commands and some times does not save the document changes at all. Most saves go to network drives. Where do I start to look for solutions to this problem? Thanks

It could be because of another application running & using resources, a conflict with Norton add-in, fast saves activated, Outlook journalling activated, as well as corruption. I’m assuming this is only a problem with Word, not with other apps or other Office programs. The first thing I’d try is search this forum for the words “slow” & “journal”, then “slow” & “Norton”. If that doesn’t help, you could try the steps listed in post 197827.
