I have a problem for Fred, or anyone else who’s solved a similar one. OS is Win 7 Pro on a Dell XPS 8500, with an EVGA NVIDIA GTX650 display adapter, although the problem occurred on an older Dell Inspiron 830 with a Radeon display adapter, and with both Vista & Win 7 Home editions.

I use a slideshow as my desktop. When using Win 7’s built-in Desktop – Personalize for the slide show images are enormous, so that only the central about twenty five percent is on-screen. This occurs no matter which option I choose – Fit, Tile, Center, etc – and no matter what the image format – JPG, BMP, any other. I have a program called Desktop Slideshow that sort of worked. JPGs are displayed huge, but BMPs displayed properly, so that’s what I’ve been using.

With both Vista and Win 7 on the older Inspiron Desktop Slideshow worked as above. Win 7’s built-in slideshow displayed everything oversized.

Recently both Desktop Slideshow and Win 7’s built-in slideshow began displaying everything oversized. Nothing I tried corrected the problem. I uninstalled Desktop Slideshow and cleaned up everything about it I could find in Windows Explorer, hand-editing the Registry, and running CCleaner’s Registry cleaner, restarted, and reinstalled it. I updated the display adapter’s drivers and software. I used System Restore to roll back to before the problem started, thinking that one update/patch might have been the culprit. It made no difference.

I’ve tried a few other slideshow programs, but none worked correctly. ‘d try others anyone suggested. Otherwise I can’t think of anything else to do. Fred, or anyone, can you help?

I use slideshows also, but I’ve always used a photo app to resize/crop my photos to match my screen resolution. I’ve never just left it up to Windows to fit them to the screen or whatever.

      Have you run sfc /scannow?

Always create a fresh drive image before making system changes/Windows updates; you may need to start over!
We all have our own reasons for doing the things that we do with our systems; we don't need anyone's approval, and we don't all have to do the same things.

        Thanks for the suggestions.

Yes, I’ve run sfc /scannow. No luck. I’ve also cropped large the images to match or be close to screen resolution. Most are considerably smaller, though. No luck.
