I have several slide where I have a Custom Animation that runs as the slide opens, then I talk for a while, then an exit animation runs. How do I get the slide to transition automatically after the exit animations? I can’t set the timer, because I’m not sure how long I will talk and questions may be involved. Because of an animation that I have on the next slide, it would look better if it all ran automatically. I can always click the mouse, but that won’t be as good. Thanks for any help.

I’m not certain I understand what you are trying to achieve. Are you trying to avoid clicking twice to accomplish the transition between slides? Or is there a more complex issue behind your question?

        Wendell,
You are right the first time. What I am doing in this instance is pulling up a slide, it runs 3 animation sequences, stops while I talk, I click, then runs 3 more animations on the way out. Then on the next slide, 3 animations run on the way in. What I wanted was for the transition to be smooth, that’s why I wanted it to go automatically. I can’t time it, because there may be questions from the audience. I hope this makes sense. Thanks for your help.

I don’t know if I should be answering my own question, but I figured out a way to do what I want. It is different from what I originally had in mind and requires a few more slides, but it accomplishes the goal. If anyone has a better solution, I am still open to ideas.

      Original layout
Slide 1 – run entrance animations, pause, run exit animations, wait for click to advance to next slide
Slide 2 – run entrance animation

      New layout
Slide 1 – run entrance animation, pause, run slide transition
New Slide 2 – copy of slide 1, with entrance animations removed, runs exit animations automatically then, with automatic slide transition in place, so it advances to:
New Slide 3 – which is the former Slide 2, runs entrance animations, pause

Good job, Don. You’ve found the way to do this kind of thing — which is to create a dummy slide…

The PPT development team is aware that users would like an animation to trigger a transition. I know I often could use such an animal, and the dummy slide thing gets tedious!
