• Slanted cell borders (Excel (All))

A friend of mine asked me to help her out. I doubt that it can be done, but I’m not much of an Excel user.
Her boss wants her to to not only have slanted text in the first row cells, as she has now, but also to slant he cell borders. Like in the right part of attached drawing. Can that be done and if so, how to proceed?

Not really. You can create diagonal cell borders, and fake the effect she wants to some extent – see the screenshot below.
But as you see, you must insert extra columns for the diagonal borders, and sometimes Excel doesn’t draw borders correctly – note the gap in the upper border.

In addition to Hans’s suggestion, another way is to decide not to use a border at all and use a trapezoid autoshape to act as a Border. Since it is only for the top row it should not be too difficult to set up after the column and row size is set

Hey, that’s neat! Much better than my suggestion – thanks!

Does the attached do what you want?
Set the orientation of the cell alignment to the desired angle (using the Format Cell | Alignment tool) and the cell borders (when displayed) follow the same angle.

        Thanks,

I will have to remember this. I did not realize it would do this automatically. This is much better than my solution.

        That’s nice, thank you.

If you put the borders onto blank cells, it doesn’t look as if it’s done it correctly. But when text is typed into a cell, it does exactly what you want.
