AskWoody PlusMay 20, 2024 at 7:43 am #2673345There is another huge capability in Sizer: setting a window to a percentage of the screen!
I used to have a list of ratios, as shown in the article, to accommodate different computers/displays. Then the author released Sizer 4.0 allowing a “1 size fits all” capability. My preference is to make all windows as large as possible, but not full screen which locks them in place.
This entry in the XML file (can be done with the Configurator):
<resize description=” Full 98.5%w x 98%h” hotKey=”0″ hotKeyModifiers=”0″ hotKeyExtended=”0″ width=”0.985 * w:workarea” height=”0.985 * h:workarea” relocate=”5″ monitor=”-2″ top=”100″ left=”100″ noresize=”0″ relocateCoords=”1″ allowOutsideBounds=”0″/>
Will give you a menu choice called ” Full 98.5%w x 98%h” of whatever screen your displaying on!
The software author, Brian, really outdid himself – thanks Brian : )

GuestMay 20, 2024 at 10:53 am #2673422Sizer is a great tool. Thanks! One thing I do repetitively (and I can’t find a solution for) is remove Type column from File Explorer. It doesn’t matter how many times I do this locally or global…the Type column always comes back providing its completely useless information. Is there an app that allows you to get rid of Type permanently?
Thanks!

AskWoody PlusMay 20, 2024 at 5:01 pm #2673496Hi Deanna:
I noticed that the ASKWOODY website accessed via clicking on the AskWoody Plus – 21.21.0 – 2024-05-20 – Setting up MFA properly – email I got has changed.
When I choose the FREEWARE SPOTLIGHT label, instead of getting the old link directly to a text\image description of downloading and using the freeware software, now I get an entirely text-based page with links to the images, although the pages that used to appear contained both text and images. All the images had a numbered description of what the actual images were about. That is now gone.
To get that back I guess that once you get to the software writer’s site the description and images with their numbered descriptions will re-appear. I will try to check that out.
Why was that done? If you reply to these comments, I presume they will appear in the forum or some other place on the ASKWOODY PLUS website.

Where do you see 2012?
I see 16 Apr 2020:
https://www.brianapps.net/sizer4/
and This version is designed to run on Windows 10 and 64 bit systems.

AskWoody LoungerMay 21, 2024 at 7:23 am #2673702@b, the Sizer link posted by @James Bond 007 is for the old 32 bit version and clearly states.
Sizer 3.34, which was designed to run on 32 bit systems only and was last updated in 2012

The software was last updated in 2012 but still works on Windows 10 / Windows 11 ?
I verified the 32 bit version does work on 64 bit Windows 10 so it “should” also work on Windows 11.
However, unless you’re running 32 bit Windows, it’d be much better to use the 64 bit version in the link posted by @b.

GuestMay 21, 2024 at 8:33 pm #2673837Thank you. I appreciate your article. I was trying to use sizer for not only the size, but for the position. However, it did not seem to work automatically. I use FreeFileSync & when you synchronize 2 files or folders, it pops up a window that I always have to adjust to see the first window that’s behind it.
I thought sizer would be the answer…i.e. the 2nd window would pop up lower so I could see both windows. However, the 2nd window still shows in the same place. To move it, I have to position the cursor at the edge of the window, wait, then right click, & then choose the name I’ve given the window.
It’s faster just to drag the window down. Is there a utility that will automatically position the window where I want. (The used to be a PC Magazine utility, called ButtonBoogie2, that would do that in Windows XP, but it doesn’t work in Win10)
