I’m thinking of buying a simple NAS (Network Attached Storage) to expand storage and make it available to our all our PC’s in the home network. I came across the relatively cheap Sitecom MD-250 Network Drive. Does anyone have any experience with this device?

My first USB drive is a NetDisk, which can be run in the same method, but with then software that is required to be install on EACH machine, it was a pain to maintain. We now just use it as an external USB drive that is shared.
But, we have have since gotten enough USB drives for each machine, so we have the extra storage for back up images.

        Thanks Dave & Jefferson.
Currently I use an external USB drive that’s getting pretty full, so I’m thinking of buying more storage. Connecting an USB drive has the disadvantage that it can only be accessed from another PC in my home network if the PC it’s attached to is also running. That’s why I’m considering a NAS.
Sitecom introduced the MD-250 a few months back. It costs only about EUR 70 without hard drive (must be purchased seperately). There’s no mention on the Sitecom site of software that needs to be installed. But maybe I just haven’t found that yet… grin

Never heard of it, and the company didn’t make the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NAS_manufacturers%5B/url%5D. We used the early versions of the SnapServer, but transitioned over time to various other (non-NAS) products.
