Can anyone recommend a relatively simple Website design program? I’m not looking to get into the website business, so I don’t need a high-end product, and as such price is a concern. I’m basically just using it for my own website. Currently I’m using FrontPage, for no other reason than I have it as it came with Office Pro (my website might have been originally developed in FrontPage, not sure). The website isn’t very fancy, basically an information site (no shopping carts, etc.), and has about a 1/2 dozen pages, files for download, etc.

One that seems to be coming a Lounge favourite is Nvu (pronounced N View), open source with some very good write ups.

I have just had to take over as Web Master ( I hate that term) for my Running Club and the previous designer was a novice and used a horrific cumbersome application that chucked all kinds of rubbish into the code. Nvu gives the control back to you. My starters for 10 as I am sure this will be a popular thread grin

Well, the Nvu website says “Now anyone can create web pages and manage a website with no technical expertise or knowledge of HTML”, which definitely meets my criteria!

        Thanks!

I use Web Maestro – somewhat gender neutral

I wondered how long that would take!!

I use “Webslave” and I get a few question like, “What is a web slave?”
My reply, just start up your own web page smile

I like Home Site 5.5, but since it was bought out by Macromedia and then Adobe, there has been no new versions.
It can be found at HomeSite with a 30 day trial verson.

If you are using FrontPage, know it, and it does the job why change? Is there something you are trying to do that is causing a problem?

Well, I don't really know it that well, and I seem to spend too much time screwing around with it just trying to make simple changes.

Check out your web hosting site as many do offer templates that you can use to create your own site. This way there is no coding on your part. There are also many free templates out there that you’d download and just add our own text. If you have a Yahoo address they also offer this as well (as do many other web email accounts).

Since you’re not interested in learning web skills and just want to create a basic site for your own use, using these templates is a better way to go. Do a google on “web templates free”, tons of hits.
