    I’m on Win10 Home 22H2 (local account).

I never had a Microsoft account (even with Win7).

My question is: when someone has a Microsoft account and there is an internet interruption/failure, what is the behaviour of the PC at start up if you can’t loggin to your account ?

You will have to switch to local account.

@WSaltamirano Your question is not stupid. In fact, Microsoft support forums are full of posts where those who only use a Microsoft Account to sign-on to Windows are unable to use their systems when, for any reason, the internet is not available.

In my opinion that is another good reason to stick with using a local account. Even if the internet is unavailable you still have access to your data.

        Same with a Microsoft account.

A Microsoft account can still be used without internet access.

The mechanism behind offline login with a Microsoft account involves caching encrypted credentials locally on the device. When you first log in with your Microsoft account, Windows securely stores a hash of your password in its local database. This allows the system to verify your credentials without needing to connect to Microsoft’s servers during subsequent logins.
