I do NOT get it, but I do NOT use “Web Page” version. When some how my Explorer gets changed to ‘Web Page’ style then I will get the stupid message. Also I do NOT use ‘My Computer’.

I need to find out how to get rid of the warning window when I try to open my windows file. I know it can be done as I have done it in the past. When you reinstall Win 98 S/E (SR-latest) guess what changes back to its original setting? Any help or constructive commentary is welcome!
      Thanks for your time…

        Hi Fyredillo:
If you’re sick of seeing that warning page every time you try to access your Windows folder, you have two options:
        1. Use View/FolderOptions/Classic Style.
        2. Change a file called Folder to anything else.

        Hope this helps.

Another option is once in the Windows folder, take the tick off ‘as Web Page’ under the Veiw menu.

Thanks one and all for taking your time to answer my boggle!!
The answers were good and accurate but i like the view i have as i use lots of pictures and like the thumbnail option. There is another way…i remember one certain file in the Windows folder that if the suffix were changed (ie old)then the “silly warning screen” would not pop up no matter what setting your folders were opted to.
Alas it is the name of this file in Windows that has eluded me not to worrry. I will be happy and carry on my day joyful in the knoledge that there are kind people out there who are willing to take the time to ease the cyber suffering of someone with albeit aging but a faulty memory (thats why i have this darn computer to begin with)Thanks to you all!!

          Fyredillo,
Here is the “renaming the file” fix:

          MS KB Q184963

          Good luck,

For those folders that you have graphics in, one can select the folder in Win Explorer and right click, select properties and turn on the ‘Thumbnail’ option. The graphic files can NOW be displayed using the ‘Thumbnail’ option in the ‘Views’ button of Windows Explorer.
