I created a signature at Tools/Options/Mail Formats/Signature. I also selected “None” for both the Signature For New Message and Signature for Replies and Forwards.

How to manually use this signature when I write an email? It seems that this created signature is not displayed inside the Insert/AutoText list.

In an e-mail message, you should be able to add an existing signature by selecting Insert-Signature.

      Hope this helps!

        Becky,

Strange enough! I could not find the Signature under the Insert. You can see from the screen shot that there is only one Signature, which is Celeron, the default, under Insert/Autotext. The signature I created was not shown here.

          From the help file:
You can create custom signatures for different types of audiences.
On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the General tab.
Click E-mail Options, and then click the E-mail Signature tab.
In the Type the title of your e-mail signature or choose from the list box, type a name for your signature.
Under Create your e-mail signature, insert the text or pictures, or both, that you want to use for a signature.
          Click Add.
To create another signature, click New, and then repeat steps 3 through 5.

Windoze/Word/Outlook expect to find the signatures in the specific folder Documents and Settings%user%Application DataMicrosoftSignatures, so storing a sig elsewhere may not work.

            Peter,

If you read my first post, you would see that I did create the custom signature exactly by following what you quoted. Unfortunately, the signature I created was not available anywhere. Would you please tell me where I can access these custom signatures?

Hmm… i read your post, but misunderstood it, sorry.

The name you give to the signature is used as the file name(s). There are 3 files created. Assuming it was called ‘home’, i would expect to find the files home.htm, home.rtf, and home.txt in the folder Documents and Settings%user%Application DataMicrosoftSignatures, where %user% is to be replaced with your user name.

Try searching My Computer with windows explorer for the signature files if you cant go directly to that folder. This will determine that they exist. The next problem is why dont they show up if they DO exist.

This from an O2K non-user, but your problem may lie in the fact that you’re using WordMail. Try Tools|Options|Mail Format and deselect using Word as your email editor. A signature icon may then appear on your Standard toolbar when you are composing an email. HTH

      Dennis,

I had the exact same problem a few weeks ago. Leif provided me with the solution in post 157791. I’m not sure how to put a link here, so here is a copy of the reply:

Not sure if my question question would go here.

I have Outlook 98 and a signature already. I tried to edit the signature to see if I can add a pictrue in it. It tells me that I don’t have a HTML editor. Anybody know what I can use or how to do this?

Try opening the HTML version of your Signature in Word 97 and then using the Insert|Picture|From File command.

Your Signature usually can be found in something like “Application DataMicrosoftSignatures”. The Application Data folder in turn can be found under Windows or WinntProfiles[username] or Documents and Settings[username]
