    Hi:

I’m looking at either building or purchasing a new Win10 socket 2066, x299 based computer. I got to thinking about side channel variants and whether newer CPUs have less or no problems.

Somewhere I read that the Xeon w-series, for example the w-2145, are indeed affected and need to be patched, however I’m unsure how reliable  that info was

    Questions.

Are the newer Core i7 and i9 CPUs any less vulnerable ?

What about the slightly older Xeon w-series. ?

Finally, what my main concern is:  Does patching for the side channel vulnerabilities (bios, micro code or software based) affect performance ?

    Thanks, Mike
