I’m using Word 2010. I like to clean up and style documents in draft view with the styles window and the style area pane open. The template I use has all the styles I could possibly need for the various documents I work on, but any given document would only have fraction of those styles in use. I would like to figure out a way for the styles window to show only those styles in use in the current document. I know there is a setting in the Style Pane Options to select styles “In use” or “Styles in current document,” but neither one of these settings has any effect. The Style pane continues to display all the styles in the template. I know what I am after is possible, because one day while I was working on a document the style pane did show only the styles that were in the document. But I haven’t been able to reproduce that setting.
