Prior to Word 2000, Alt-F2 and F3 where shortcuts from the Open and Save dialogs to create a new folder and open Favorites. Does anyone know if these have been replaced with other keyboard shortcuts. Is it possible to program shortcuts in these dialogs? Thanks, Andy.

The keyboard shortcuts I refer to occurred within the Open and Save As dialogs.

      Don’t you mean Alt-2 and Alt-3, etc.?

Those all work in Word 97 and Word 2002 just fine. I don’t have 2000 installed anywhere, but one must assume they work too.

Here’s an example where Microsoft did something consistent and intelligent: the Alt-key combinations are associated with the buttons across the dialog from left to right. For example, on the Open dialog in Word 97 Alt-1 corresponds to clicking the 1st button — the back (or up one) folder button.

In Word 2002 we get both the back button (arrow) and Up one button (bent arrow) each assigned to an Alt-key, Alt-1 and Alt-2 respectively. A ray of light in a sea of kelp.

      Class dismissed… flee
