    Hi there,

    Is there any shortcut that I can use (instead of using the mouse) for switching between two workbooks in Excel (that is instead of going to Window and clicking on the other workbooK)?

    Thx in advnc.
    K.

      Control-Tab and control-shift Tab switches between workbooks, Control-pageup and control-pagedown switches between sheets.

      Attached a comprehensive listing.

        Hey, thanks a lot for the file, that has everything and even more than I’d hoped to get!

        Cheers m8,

        In your attachment, the shortcut keys relating to precedent & dependent cells are mixed up. I’ve always assumed that Microsoft’s choice of keys was intended to be intuitive, in that the left (backward) facing square bracket relates to precedent cells, while the right (forward) facing bracket relates to dependent cells. Additionally holding down the shift key broadens the resulting cell selection from direct dependents/precedents to all.
        I would guess that you got the file from Chip Pearson’s site(?). I remember he had the same error. I sent him my own shortcut key file and he was going to update or replace his file, but I don’t know if he ever got around to it. I actually posted my file on this board a month or two ago, in response to somebody’s question regarding shortcut keys.

          Probably correct. I never even started to check the file. Thanks.

        I can’t tell you what a great tip this is for me! I very often have two (or more) workbooks open in the same Excel and find it a pain to press Alt-W then the number of the file. My workaround was to open another instance of Excel and do the familiar Alt-Tab to switch between the two Excel applications. I hated the additional overhead of the extra app, but what’s a guy to do?

        Great tip, thanks!

      I find the following two macros, assigned to toolbar buttons , very convenient:

      Sub NextWorkbook()
      ActiveWindow.ActivateNext
      End Sub

      Sub PreviousWorkbook()
      ActiveWindow.ActivatePrevious
      End Sub

        IMO: I find using the kbd shortcuts often to be far more efficient than any mouse action. Pity that those shortcuts are different between office apps (try using control-Tab to switch docs in Word, no luck ).

          A matter of taste Jan, I use those buttons a couple of dozen times every day.

          The Word document-switch, Ctrl-F6, also works in Excel, but Ctrl-Tab is so much more convenient than reaching way up for that F6 key that I’ve given thought to remapping key use in Word so that Ctrl-Tab is the document switch keystroke in Word also!

            Should’ve known that. Is the same as used to be in WP5.1 if I recall correctly. Off to study Word shortcutkeys…
