As most of you know I was travelling through Italy the other week and was nearing the end of my holiday and therefore had to do the obligitory gift shopping. I was having real difficulty trying to choose a present for my father ( you know the problem, I am sure).

In the end I decided to buy him a pet ( as one does) so I popped into the the local pet shop and thought I would buy a toad (Dad has a pond in his garden in case you are wondering). Now the problem was I only had 2 Euro’s on me (the owner didn’t accept TC’s or cards). I therefore asked the shopkeeper if I could give him a down payment of 1 Euro and I would come back later with the rest, he agreed. I left the shop with one Euro in my pocket and a toad, I was a happy man.

How much did the toad cost?

      OK Guys

This one has been sitting in the queue to be solved for a little while now. I’ll give you a clue

….I left the shop with one Euro in my pocket and a toad…

Look at this sentence very carefully, the answer maybe revealed!!!!!

      Good luck

          Sadly not

Keep saying “A toad” over and over again, after a time you will be aware of something and look back at my first clue

The shopkeeper was a prince in disguise. You kissed him, and lo and behold, he turned into a toad.

I have to admit I found the answer by Googling. However, I would suspect you may have said something along the lines of Euro’d so many Euros to the shopkeeper…

OK I think I will give the answer for this. You will kick yourselves, as I did when I found it. (I changed the story around so that it would be more difficult to Google the answer but it appears Leif should be called the GoogleMeister from now on) bow

I left the shop with one Euro in my pocket and a toad

could be read as “I left the shop with one Euro in my pocket and eight owed (a toad)”

therefore the Toad cost me 9 euros
