    No need for bookmarks here!
If you save and close a word doc, and open it up again, just press SHIFT+F5 to return the cursor back to the last position it was at when you saved.
Very handy in large docs. Simply save and close after working…open later and SHIFT+F5. Cursor returns to last worked possition.

Ah, yes. This is a venerable feature that may have been in Word for Windows 2.0c (the first version I used), and was featured as the “tip of the week” in the March 9, 2000 edition of Woody’s Office Watch.

Sadly, with more and more global procedures running when documents open, it is becoming less and less effective in office environments. (Maybe I’m being self-centered… it doesn’t work for me. smile ) I vaguely recall a Lounge thread or an article in WOW in the past few years about other templates that caused problems with this feature, but we can save that lament for those it afflicts. Everyone else, enjoy.

      Hi Rudi:
Well, yes & no. See Dave Rado’s article GoBack (Shift+F5) doesn’t work in some newly-opened documents. I had to use his macro so that saved documents (Word 2000) would preserve Prev Sel1 (hidden bookmark).
