Lately, when I turn on the wife’s computer, a window shown below pops up. This is even before I launch IE. I find that the first time I open IE, it cannot find the home page yet when I refresh it works fine. Moreover, I notice that when I open any page (via a link on one page), there is a brief nessage in the status bar that says something about downloading from res://C:WINDOWSsystem32shdoclc.dll/navcancl.htm then it opens the site I want.

Here is the error when I boot up.

That seems suspicious. You might want to do some extra malware and spyware scans.

I think you have a bug onboard. Take a look here for some help. You may need to get a copy of HijackThis, but you may be able to edit out the problem from the instructions here.

Good Luck and let us know how you make out.
